Registration and CPR numbers

This is how you register and obtain a CPR number and a Health Insurance Card

To register and obtain a CPR number and a Health Insurance Card you need to apply in person to the Citizen Service Office (Borgerservice) in your municipality of residence. Please take the following documents when you apply:

  • Residence & Work Permit*
  • Passport or National ID card
  • Proof of address for a minimum of 3 months (lease contract/rental agreement)
  • Marriage certificate and children’s birth certificates (legalized and translated)

After obtaining your CPR number, you can get a NemID digital signature. This is needed to access various official self-service solutions and internet banking.
